Crop Residue Studies
Product registration requirements involve determining the persistence of trace residues of the parent compound and it’s metabolites following a “highest usage regime” in the field so that the adult daily intake and similar values can be calculated.

These crop residue activities are basic studies that following controlled and standardized applications to representative test plots, samples are taken of the raw agricultural commodity (RAC studies) at harvest or at specific periods thereafter (Decline studies). In the former case, a harvest residue is calculated for registration purposes, whereas in the latter case, an approximation of harvest interval extensions are also estimated. Although simplistic in conduct and execution, these are highly regulated studies and require technicians practice GLP standards throughout their activities. Pacific Ag Research conducts many of these experiments at our own field stations, where absolute control is possible with irrigations, crop maintenance sprays, and access to the experimental area overall. In addition, Quality Assurance audits are conducted at several critical periods during each study, and facility audits by sponsor companies, government, and outside QA’s contracted by Pacific Ag management are frequent and in depth, to assure redundancy in oversight with compliance in methods and conduct of these important studies. In short, new product RAC and Decline studies on coastal vegetables, small fruits, and other crops at Pacific Ag Research, are conducted with a focus and intensity that is a truly professional experience for the cooperating sponsor.
